English programs
Pasadena Language Center offers ESL (English as a Second Language) classes for all those ready to start learning English or want to improve their English skills. These programs are recommended for people who are visiting the Los Angeles area for a short period of time and want to take advantage of their stay, as well as for all residents whose first language is not English. |
Choosing the right ESL class is sometimes a challenge, that is why we offer a variety of English as a Second Language programs for you. Classes are taught at all levels: complete beginner (L0), low beginner (L1), high beginner (L2), low intermediate(L3), high intermediate (L4), advanced (L5), and proficient (L6). Join one of our ESL or English programs, the one that best fits your schedule and your needs!
METHOD
ESL classes at Pasadena Language Center are interactive with focus on reading, writing, grammar, listening, speaking, and pronunciation. All programs will help you develop academic English skills for college studies and practical English skills for every-day life situations. The small group setting is our best attribute as it allows you, the student, to actively participate in class as well as have a direct approach with the instructor. All our English instructors are experienced in teaching English as a Second Language. They hold either a master’s degree or Ph.D. in English, linguistics or a related field.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
The full Immersion program includes field trips to different local attractions and points of interest (museums, parks, shops, markets, universities, public libraries, etc.). This is a great opportunity for the ESL students to discover the Pasadena and Downtown Los Angeles areas, to meet locals and practice English in different situations.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE EVALUATION
We recommend that, before registering to any of the ESL language programs, you take our free language proficiency test to find the right level for you. The test covers 4 sections: listening, reading comprehension, grammar and speaking. It can only be taken in person
