Overview
Pasadena Language Center offers language classes for children starting at 4 years old. Languages available: ASL, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, and Spanish. Upon request and subject to availability, we can open classes for other languages as well (minimum 3 children required). |
Kids Language Programs
- Weekend classes (offered all year long)
- After-school classes (offered during the school year)
- Summer Kids classes (June 3 - July 25, 2024)
Our method
We believe that the best way for a child to learn a second language is through imitation and repetition. The purpose of the program is to introduce the new language as if it were the native language. Therefore, classes are fully conducted in the target language. Learning a new language should be a fun experience. That is why we created a curriculum that engages children through music, movements, drawing, role play, and story time. The focus is on conversation, and for Arabic, Chinese, and Japanese, we introduce some character writing.
All our instructors are native speakers and have a large experience in teaching children. They will guide and support the children in the learning process, making sure that they have the best experience.
Language material
For all languages, we use the First Thousand Words picture book by Usborne Publishing. Other teaching materials will be used in accordance to the topics taught: numbers, colors and shapes, the family, body parts, professions, food, expressing likes and dislikes , asking for directions, asking for permissions, etc.
